Mock BoB 2014: Round 1 Results and Round 2 Starts

Starting 2014, Sideline Activities will officially be part of the SLJ’s Battle of the Kids’ Books.  These activities offer opportunities for our followers, adults and young readers alike, to be more involved with the Battle. We especially would love to hear more from young readers. Librarians, teachers, parents, please encourage the young people you know to participate and cast their votes. We are interested in seeing the similarities and differences between what our author judges pick and what you choose.

  1. Battle Commander Battle Commander says

Is any of these titles surprising to you?

  2. I’m bummed about Midwinterblood getting knocked out in the first round! Also bummed that Doll Bones is up against Eleanor & Park in the first round. But I’m for Eleanor & Park all the way. I hope it faces Midwinterblood in the actual battle final round.

  3. I’m trying to figure out what I can learn from this to finesse my undead vote.

  4. On the other hand, I was actually surprised that Midwinter won the Printz. I read it and, while it was entertaining, I didn’t find it spectacular. The plot jumped too much, the chapters were too short to get a feel for the characters, and the concept had been done before (just didn’t feel fresh). There were other contenders I felt were more worthy.

Lots of other great books here! Personally, I’m rooting for True Blue Scouts!
