Preview: Sabrina: The Magic Within, vol. 4

Back in the middle of the manga boom, the Archie folks moved the character Sabrina the Teenage Witch to a manga style, written and mostly drawn by Tania del Rio. The format stayed the same, though—full-color monthly comics, not the black-and-white digests manga readers are accustomed to.

Last year, they started re-releasing the comics as black-and-white manga-format digests, and the story really does look different that way. I talked to Tania about the new releases—and about the story she wrote and the world she built just for this series. Caleb also reviewed the first volume here at GC4K. And now, here’s a sneak peek at volume 4, which will be out tomorrow in comics shops and in a few weeks in bookstores. Full catalog information follows the preview. Enjoy!

The popular manga-style take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch returns with a fourth fantastic installment! Full of romance and the paranormal, Sabrina is torn between two worlds and two boys while attending both a mortal and magical high school. When Sabrina is granted a magic wand, will she be able to control the magnitude of magic it possesses, or will it control her? Throw in a hidden pirate ship, unicorns, elves and the battle of a lifetime, and you’re in for a whirlwind of supernatural suspense! It’s Sabrina as you’ve never seen her before in an enchanted adventure brought to you by super-talented writer/artist Tania Del Rio, collecting her acclaimed run on everyone’s favorite teenage witch! Sabrina the Teenage Witch: The Magic Within 4 collects Sabrina the Teenage Witch #90-100.

I absolutely loved this back in the day, I was a fan of the TV show but also loved Sakura so seeing the two combined in this comic was fun. It took long enough for Efhie to republish everything, I do wish they had the color pages available too
