The List:

Rocket Raccoon #7 – Marvel Comics pairs the furriest member of the Guardians of the Galaxy with the not-so-furry all ages creator Skottie Young. Rocket Raccoon is working to make up for his past by paying back all the princesses he kissed and ran with. His next job takes place on the dreaded Winter Planet, where it’s winter all the time. Good thing Rocket has a built-in fur coat! I knew this series was out there, but I didn’t know it was for all ages. It’s a rollicking ride with Rocket Raccoon and his wooden friend Groot, with occasional appearances by the other Guardians of the Galaxy. If you liked the movie, and Rocket, then you will love this comic.

March Volume 2 GN – Top Shelf releases the second volume of Congressman John Lewis’ autobiographical telling of the civil rights movement. After the success on the Nashville sit-in campaign, John Lewis and his fellow Freedom Riders move into the vicious heart of the deep south, where their commitment to non-violence will be sorely tested. Beatings, police brutality, imprisonment, arson, and even murder threaten their lives, while internal conflicts threaten to tear them apart. But they also gain powerful allies, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, and they take their message to Washington, DC, with the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Even though this story is relevant at any time, recent events make it even more so. This a powerful book that tweens and teens should read.
