Links: More Phoebe, the Return of Planetes, and a James Kochalka Crossover

There’s a new comic on the funny pages, and Good Comics for Kids readers already know about it: Phoebe and Her Unicorn started as a webcomic, and Esther reviewed the print collection here. Creator Dana Simpson tells the Deseret News that the comic started out with just the girl, and the unicorn was supposed to be a single gag, but she quickly realized that it was an essential part of the story.

Planetes is back! Dark Horse has picked up the license for the four-volume sci-fi manga about intergalactic junkmen, which was originally published by Tokyopop, and they will release it in two-volume omnibus format.

It’s a James Kochalka crossover! Top Shelf announced that Kochalka’s next kids’ book will be Johnny Boo Meets Dragon Puncher! You can see a preview at the link; the book will be out in June.

Jen Wang, the artist of In Real Life, talks about writing the gender-swapped Adventure Time mini-series Fionna and Cake, which was announced at Emerald City Comic Con last weekend.

Matthew Jent interviews Hope Larson about adapting Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time into graphic-novel format.

Here’s a fun bit of comics nostalgia: Lew Stringer takes a look at The Monkees Crazy Cartoon Book, which came out in 1967.

Kids in a Silver Spring, Maryland, school have an after-school comics-making class thanks to an AmeriCorps program.
