The Picks:

Cover of Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales

Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales Blades Of Freedom – Amulet Books tells another hazardous tale from history. The Louisiana Purchase was one of history’s greatest bargains. What would make the would-be emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, sell the makings of a French empire in North America? Nathan Hales tells the hazardous tale of French-controlled Haiti, where enslaved people were forced to harvest sugar. In 1791, former slave and military general Toussaint L’Ouverture led the largest slave uprising in history, the Haitian Revolution. With Haiti out of his control, Louisiana was no longer of any use to Napoleon as a base for trade in the new world. Thomas Jefferson’s offer to buy New Orleans gave him the chance to sell the whole territory. Take a deep dive into another historical event filled with action and amazing facts as only Nathan Hale can tell.

Cover of Science Comics Rocks and Minerals

Science Comics Rocks And Minerals GN – First Second leaves no stone unturned with their latest volume of Science Comics. Wally, a crystal-crazy fanboy, tries to convince geologist and famous rock hunter Sedona to let him become her assistant by bringing her a rock sample. She uses his rock to take him on a geological journey, from the beginnings of the universe to the unstoppable forces that shape our planet. Their journey takes them to the summit of a volcano, deep within the earth, and even into outer space! Science Comics once again takes a potentially boring science topic and shows there is not only a lot to be learned from rocks, but that it can also be fun.
