The Picks:

We Found A Monster TP – DC Comics releases a new volume in their middle grade graphic novel line. Casey Clive, self-proclaimed monster expert, spends his days doing normal kids things, like going to school and riding his bike around his town of Serena Mar. He also takes care of the various monsters who live all around them, whom no one else seems to know exist. Except his new friend from school Zandra: She’s found a monster that needs his help. Now Casey has to juggle finding a place for his monster friends, keeping them a secret from the townspeople, and navigating middle school, as well as dealing with the possibility that Zandra has a secret of her own. Written and drawn by Kirk Scroggs, creator of The Secret Spiral of Swamp Kid, this fun new tale shows that friendship is more than skin deep and that it’s important to respect the secrets we all have inside.

Wolf In Unicorn’s Clothing GN – Stone Arch Books gives another of Aesop’s fables a modern retelling. Daisy is a young wolf who has spotted some new neighbors moving into the glen. It’s a blessing of magical unicorns! Sure that such majestic creatures would never want to be friends with a mangy wolf, Daisy comes up with a plan. She uses her knitting skills to craft a unicorn disguise so she can sneak into the herd. If she succeeds, will she be able to reveal her true self? Another in the Far Our Fables series, this retelling of The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing puts a playful twist on the old fable.
