Incoming | Rema Chronicles, Tristan Strong

Here’s the latest news on graphic novels scheduled for next year and beyond, including the first volume of Amy Kim Kibuishi’s The Rema Chronicles, a Tristan Strong graphic novel, and a trio of choose-your-own path books from Jason Shiga, the creator of Meanwhile.

Scholastic highlighted two upcoming titles, both slated for 2022, in its Graphix line: The Rema Chronicles, by Amy Kim Kibuishi, and Captain America: The Ghost Army, by novelist Alan Gratz and artist Brent Schoonover. I’ve got all the details on both titles at ICv2.

The publishers of the Rick Riordan Presents imprint have revealed the cover of the graphic novel adaptation of Kwame Mbalia’s Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky. Hit the link to see a preview! The graphic novel, adapted by Robert Venditti with art by Olivia Stephens (whose Artie and the Wolf Moon just came out from Lerner), is scheduled for August 2022.

Jason Shiga Tweeted that he has signed with Abrams to create three interactive graphic novels, called Adventuregame Comics. The first book, Leviathan, will be out in fall 2022, with the next two following in the next two years. Shiga Tweets that Leviathan is “a bit of a mashup of my favorite media from the 80’s: Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, comics, text adventure games, Legend of Zelda”; check the thread for more details. Shiga is also the creator of Meanwhile, another interactive graphic novel that Abrams published in 2010.

DC Tweeted the news of its next two YA graphic novels: Teen Titans: Robin, by Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo, and Constantine: Distorted Illusions, by Garcia and Isaac Goodhart:

DC has posted previews on its site for two more titles: Mister Miracle: The Great Escape, by Varian Johnson (Twins) and Daniel Isles, scheduled for January 2022, and Whistle: A New Gotham City Hero, by E. Lockhart.
