Every once in a while you discover an app that simply and quietly makes your life just a little easier. An app that ought to be on your virtual Swiss Army knife of apps. Aviary, Zamzar, Picnik come easily to mind. I could gush about them all day long.
Recently I added Embedit.in to that little toolkit of app gushiness.
With Embedit.in you can skip that second step of posting on a third party site–like Flickr, Slideshare, and Youtube– before embedding, that is, if you don’t really want to post.

You (or your students and teachers) can embed a website, a slideshow, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, images–files up to 20 MB, directly from a desktop or drive or URL.
Okay, the size is a bit of an issue for me. But you do get the lovely compensations of being able to select background colors, to easily adjust size, to decide on whether to make your documents public and available for download, and the ability to mark up your documents with a little red pen or highlighter (as I have artfully demonstrated below).
Very sweet.
