Mrs. P’s Magic Library
My Twitter buddies pointed me to Mrs. P’s Magic Library today. Mrs. P. hosts:
an award-winning FREE interactive digital storybook destination. Classic children’s stories brought to life by TV star Kathy Kinney as Mrs. P.
You may best remember Kathy Kinney as Mimi Bobeck on The Drew Carey Show.
Using Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube, Kathy Kinney is now actively waging a social media campaign to encourage children to read and write. And she is waging it with an understanding of children, a bit of magic, and a grand sense of humor.
The quirky, highly interactive site offers gobs of audio and video goodies, a lovely and amusingly categorized bookshelf, a soulful talking fireplace, an interactive dictionary on an old-fashioned stand, and a few games and activities. Selections are browsable and searchable by title, age, and genre and text may be displayed.

Stories may be downloaded from iTunes, kidthing, and Audible. (Kids are appropriately warned about contacting an adult should they want to purchase anything.)
Kinney is planning a mobile Reading Challenge app in the fall. And she is currently launching a second annual competition for kid writers. (Garfield creator, Jim Davis is confirmed as a judge.)
Thanks @shannonmmiller and @kylepace and @librario868!
