SIGMS Launches 1 Tool at a Time (and a Loerscher SL webinar)!
Hooray! SIGMS (our own lovely ISTE special interest group) just announced powerful opportunities for learning and retooling. This month you can meet with one of my mentors (and likely one of yours too), David Loertscher. And you can join in on the exciting, new 1 Tool at a Time series! This first event will cover QR codes.
1 Tool at a Time
SIGMS is pleased to announce a new collaboration with SIGILT – the Innovative Learning Technologies SIG. Together, we are launching a monthly webinar series called “1 Tool at a Time.”
The purpose of this series is to highlight specific technologies that you can immediately add to your “technology toolbox”. Now, more than ever, it is important for school librarians to be technology leaders in their schools and this webinar series is designed to empower you with relevant, timely information that you can use with your students. The inaugural 30-min webinar will be on Tuesday, November 9th at 8pm ET/5pm PT and will be on the topic of QR codes. Connect to the webinar at http://sigms.iste.wikispaces.net/upcoming. Also, be sure to bookmark the “1 Tool at a Time” webinar series wiki at http://1toolatatime.wikispaces.com/. If you cannot make the live webinar, check back at these sites for the link to the archive after the event.
David Loertscher in SL!
Then, be sure to join us on Wednesday, November 10 at our monthly AASL-SIGMS Virtual Learning Community meeting in Second Life. David Loertscher will be our guest facilitator as he leads a discussion on the important topic of “Moving to the Center of Teaching and Learning.” We will meet on the main stage of the American Library Association sim in Second Life at 8pm ET/5pm PT. For more information on how to connect, see http://sigms.iste.wikispaces.net/upcoming.
Please join us for both of these outstanding professional development events brought to you by SIGMS!
