Announcing our Winner and Honor Voting: A two-for-one post!

Comments were made, votes were tallied, numbers were crunched, and we’ve got a winner–no runoff this year; we’re calling it. As always, there’s a ton of really interesting information in the data so we’ll have in-depth analysis in a separate post after the honor voting results are in.

For now, let’s talk Pyrite!

Your 2015 Pyrite winner is I’ll Give You the Sun, with a weighted total of 52 points from 8 first place, 3 second place, and 3 third place votes. Now, I know we said that for our purposes a winner would need at least a five point lead in the weighted vote in addition to 50% + 1  of the first place votes; however, in the interest of time (the ALA YMAs are in less than 48 hours, people!) we’re going to call this one.

This One Summer came oh-so-close to the Pyrite with 46 points and a 4-6-6 breakdown (further proof that those second and third place votes matter y’all).

Rounding out the rest of the top five are:

Grasshopper Jungle, 38 points
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, 26 points
Gabi, a Girl in Pieces & How I Discovered Poetry, tied with 22 points each

But those are just the top five from the Pyrite vote, not the actual full Pyrite slate, because it’s time for the Honor Vote!

The process for honor voting is almost identical to voting for the winner:

• All nominated titles are eligible, whether of not they received any votes in the voting rounds to determine the winner.
• You may vote for up to four title, but do not need to vote for all four slots.
• Votes should be numbered and will be weighted — 7 points for first place, 5 for second, 3 for third, and 1 for fourth.

We’ll vote in the comments and as usual, we recommend that you vote before looking at any of the other comments. Honor voting will be open until tomorrow morning, so get those votes in and have fun!
