Diversify
August already? How did that happen?
There is still time to Diversify Your Reading this summer!
Diversify Your Reading is a reading challenge sponsored by Diversity in YA.
Full details are at the Diversity in YA website. Briefly, there are two parts, one for libraries, and one for readers and book bloggers. Libraries can share photos and videos of the way they incorporated diverse titles into their summer reading programs. Readers and book bloggers can post a public essay about their diverse reading. Diversity in YA provides some suggested book lists; “diverse” is defined as “(1) main characters or major secondary characters (e.g., a love interest or best friend kind of character) who are of color or are LGBT; or (2) written by a person of color or LGBT author.”
Yes, there are prizes; and so the challenge is open only to US libraries and those with US mailing addresses.
The deadline is September 1.
