2015 Judge: Nathan Hale

Nathan Hale is author and illustrator of the Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales series which was named to the New York Public Library’s 100 Books for Reading and Sharing list, YALSA’s Great Graphic Novels for Teens list, School Library Journal’s Top 10 Graphic Novels for Children, and the Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People list. He was also the illustrator of the graphic novel Rapunzel’s Revenge, which was an Al Roker Book Club for Kids selection. You can check out his Hazardous Tales blog here:

  1. I love the Hazardous Tales, not least because I never have to shelve them. They are either checked out or on the hold shelf. Will we have a graphic format decision?

  2. Barb Outside Boston says

Continuing with the fabulous judges! One of the many reasons I love Rapunzel’s Revenge is it gets the boys in my school reading, by choice, about a female main character!

And once I started One Dead Spy (I had forced myself to read it to see if I should buy it for our library) I couldn’t put it down–brilliant!

  3. Oh, I’ve been talking about this guy all week to my students. Been pushing Hazardous tales with the Lewis and Clark constipation teaser. If you can’t have TREATIES, TRENCHES, MUD & BLOOD in the line up I guess it is conciliatory to have Nathan as a judge.

  4. Agreeing to all the love for Nathan Hale. I love his books and so do the kids.
