Nings for learners–Global Studies
For quite some time I’ve been excited about the use of Nings for professional social networking. I love the energy and the collaborations I see on TeacherLibrarianNing and Classroom 2.0 Ning.
We recently launched a Ning for our 12th grade Global Studies class as a vehicle for discussion, sharing ideas, and media. (Ning is ad-free for student networks!)
If you visit the GlobalStudiesNing,
you’ll see our current literature circles on fiction relating to the Middle East and the VoiceThreads our students recently completely on issues relating to Iraq.
All this might look like a pretty good start in using technology for communicating and sharing, to engage. But in our minds, it’s still pretty 1.0.
Jeff MacFarland, the Global Studies teacher, and I invite your participation and comments. We want our students to get as jazzed as we are about the potential for flat global classrooms.
