Yesterday, I explored the notion of place or space with some students who had a little time to spare. I gave our D Block study hall students our new Flip cameras and asked them to produce mini video essays on the concept of place as it relates to their library.
Why? I wanted to introduce the new cameras. I also wanted to look at the library from a different lens.
Within a few minutes they called me over and told me they had a banner for their clips, an idea that would hold these on-the-spot little film clips together–MySpace/MyLibrary.
It seems that some part of our pedagogy has to do with the social nature of learning and the place where it happens. Place, as it relates to library, means something different to each of these students.
